After our discussion with relative parties, we have mutual agreed that should the epidemic continues to affect the healthy and safety of the participants, and the social distancing measurements set by the Hong Kong Government is still in placed in November & December, the event will be replaced with a VIRTUAL RUN instead.

Due to the instability of the epidemic, and the social distancing measurement set by the HK Government are still in place. Considering the health and safety of the participants, officials and the public, after our discussion with Kanahei's Small animals licenser, HK Government bodies and other related parties, we have mutually agreed to postpone the event originally scheduled on 11 October 2020 (Sunday) to 13 December 2020 (Sunday)Click here to read more.

 

Japanese character Kanahei's Small animals is coming to Hong Kong to participate the 6th annual charity running event "HUNGER RUN 2020" , organized by social enterprise FOODSPORT, on 11th October 2020 (Postponed to 13 December 2020), running with it's fans for hunger!

The event features 2km, 4km and 10km races, where Piske and Usagi will be there to cheer you up and free all of your minds to chill out at the event.  The event venue will be teemed with a thematic delicious food, games and photo booths at the "Chill Hea Carnival", where you and your friends may enjoy a day with Kanahei's Small animals.

Piske and Usagi will also be joining the calorie drive movement, where all burnt calories from the event participants will be converted into the equivalent amount of calories worth of food for donation to our beneficiary "ImpactHK", providing food assistance, love and care to those in need the people in need!

 

The event features individuals, children, family and team race categories. For the first time, the run will start and finish at the Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre overlooking the beautiful east coast of the Hong Kong Island. The event will be teemed with exciting performances, themed photo shooting scenes, cheering teams and food and beverages, suitable for pro & new runners at all ages to join.

The proceeds of the event, after deduction of the event operating and food purchasing for donation costs , will go to "Food Assistance Program" and "FOODSPORT Community Sport Program" , support FOODSPORT to sustain and expand it's community calorie drive programs in Hong Kong.

Race packs will be arranged and available for collection on 7 - 8 November 2020. All participants / teams are required to collect the race pack (1 team member can collect participant pack for the whole team) at an specific time and location. If any participant / team cannot collect it in person, please fill in the "Authorization Form" to authorize a third person for collection.

Why is the company called FOODSPORT?

 

FOODSPORT is a Social Enterprise that combines FOOD with SPORT. FOODSPORT aims to encourage the community to participate in sports which, at the same time, raise food for the needed ones to develop a healthy and sustainable society.

Is FOODSPORT a Hong Kong registered charitable organization?

 

FOODSPORT is not a registered charity under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance. FOODSPORT is a self-sustaining social innovation project of a Social Enterprise "Symbol Of Alliance".  We insist in operating the organization as a Company Limited registry, to fulfill the responsibility of operating a business oriented social enterprise, sustaining and develop out business and at the same time, serving the community. All of our beneficiaries are charitable organizations under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance, to ensure the food and financial donations are for charity purpose.

Why the event name is called HUNGER RUN?

 

The event name was chosen to deliver the true meaning and the purpose of the event, which is to address hunger and raise public awareness on poverty and hunger through running. In addition, we would like to create an unforgettable running experience for runners, families and friends to participate. Thus, taking this opportunity to create more synergy among the government bodies, corporates and social organizations, joint hands to celebrate and promote healthy living through sport.

What is the different in between HUNGER RUN and the other charitable running events?

 

"HUNGER RUN" is the first and the only "Calorie drive" charity running event organize by FOODSPORT in Hong Kong (We raise calories, not funds). Every runner will have the chance to make a difference to our community by donating their burned calories to the people in need in Hong Kong, exercise for a good cause.

Where will the proceeds from HUNGER RUN 2020 goes to?

 

The proceeds of the event, after deduction of the event operating and food purchasing for donation costs , will go to "Food Assistance" and "Community Sport Development" programs , enables FOODSPORT to sustain and expand our community calorie drive programs in Hong Kong.

CALORIE DONATION

 

Why FOODSPORT raises "Calories" and not "Funds"?

 

We believe doing good and positive things is beyond the value of money. We are creating a new concept of charity and volunteering work by engaging the public to do sport for the good of our community. Every drop of sweat, every bit of energy that you burnt will be converted into a nutrition meal / food for a person with needs, to address hunger in Hong Kong.

How to calculate and convert calories into food?

 

FOODSPORT Nutrition Adviser will calculate each and every runner's calories loss according to the personal data provided at the enrollment (such as gender, date of birth and weight), and exercise intensity and duration of your run. We will gather all burnt calories and convert them into food units for our donation to the under-privileged groups in Hong Kong.

 

FOODSPORT Nutrition Adviser will select and donate the food that is the most suitable for the beneficiaries.

Where does the donated food comes from?

 

The donated food is sponsored by corporate sponsorship and individuals (Registration fees). FOODSPORT will be donating the the exact amount (or more) of food, equivalent to the amount of burnt calories, to our beneficiary at the post event food donation volunteer event.

When and how the raised food be delivered to the beneficiary?

 

FOODSPORT will be organizing a food donation volunteer event in late December 2020, to deliver all raised food from "HUNGER RUN 2020" directly to our beneficiary. Event details will be announced soon, please stay tuned for more updates and registration.

 

REGISTRATION & ACCEPTANCE

How do I know if I am successfully enrolled?

 

​​Online Enrollment - Only credit card is accepted. you will receive the email confirmation on the same day.

Postal Enrollment - If you enroll via postage, a confirmation email will be sent to you within 1 week starting from the

                            submission date of the enrollment forms.

What should I do if I have not receive any email?

 

The mail may be marked as spam, please check your spam or junk mail box. Please contact FOODSPORT at 5243 0520 / 3611 0334 if you cannot find the email.

Can I change the race category or team members after my registration?

 

Once registration is completed, there will be no refund, cancellation and transfer of race category or team members will be accepted.

Are the enrollment fees tax-deductible?

 

This is not a fund raising event, therefore, all enrollment fees is NOT tax-deductible. The proceeds of the event, after deduction of the event operating costs and the cost of food purchasing for donation, will go to "FOODSPORT Community Sport Development" & "Food Assistance" programs, enables FOODSPORT to continue to sustain and expand our community programs in Hong Kong.

Why do I need to provide my weight and other personal information for enrollment?

 

FOODSPORT will be based on your personal data (weight, gender, age), exercise intensity and duration to calculate the calories burnt for conversion into food units for donation.

In compliance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, FOODSPORT is committed to safeguarding web users' personal information in respect of its collection, use, retention, security, transfer and access. Personal data should be collected by lawful and fair means and can only be used for lawful purposes directly related to the charity functions and other activities of FOODSPORT. All reasonably practicable steps shall be taken to ensure that personal data collected and retained are accurate and protected against unauthorized or accidental access, processing, erasure or other use. No personal data shall be disclosed to other organizations or individuals without prior consent of the web users. Only authorized staff of FOODSPORT, who are well trained in proper handling of personal information, are permitted to access such information.

 

FOODSPORT reserves the right to use the photos of the event for future promotion. Your personal data will be used for the purposes related to the participation in different programs and activities, the issuance of receipts, collecting user feedback, conducting analyses, and any other initiatives in relation to the aims and objectives of the organization. You have the right to request access to and correction of your personal data. For inquiry or updating your personal data, please contact us at foodsport@symbol-of.com.

We may send any news and information related to the FOODSPORT and its service units to you using the contact information you have provided.

Do all 10km Chill Hea team members need to come from the same organization or company?

 

A team should consist of 4 members regardless of their gender. They can be family members or friends coming from different organizations and companies. Since racing as a team encourages team spirit, all members should finish the whole race in order to get a ranking position and team prizes. The awards will be presented based on the fastest Chill Hea Hunger Run Team Official Time.

 

How to purchase / order the add on souvenirs?

 

Add on souvenirs are only be available registered participants, which can be made at "Online Registration" or "Postal Registration".

Could one person purchase / order more than one add on souvenirs?

 

Each participants may  purchase / order as many add on souvenir as they want. First come first served.

No add on purchase will be accepted after the completion of the registration.

 

How and when can I collect my add on orders?

 

All add on souvenirs will be available for collection at Race Kit Collection. NO add on souvenirs will be available for collection on race day.

 

Could members of the team / family choose "Luxury Package"  or "Standard Package" individually?

 

Each team members may select the type of the package they wish to register during registration. The price for different selection of packages are different. Please take special note at selection of the race category, type of package and add on souvenirs.

No cancellation, refund or transfer is accepted once the order is confirmed.

Should the event is forced to cancel, will the registration fees be refunded? (Updated)

 

The Organizer reserves the right to postpone, cancel or cut short the event if any of the following situation occurs:

a) Adverse weather conditions

b) Landslides, rock falls or hill fires along the course

c) Protests or blockage along the course

d) Force majeure i.e. due to occurrence of incidents that are beyond the control of the organizer and which renders it impossible, unsafe or impractical to hold the event. A force majeure event shall include, but is not limited to, act of God, war, hostilities, invasion, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, riot, commotion, strikes, go-slows, lock outs or disorder, outbreak of disease, acts or threats of terrorism.

 

The Chill Hea HUNGER RUN Carnival will be canceled if the no. 3 or above typhoon signal, red or black rainstorm warning signal are in force after 12:00 noon one day before the event day (12 December 2020)

The event will be called canceled if any of the above-mentioned warning signals are in force at 00:00 on the event day (13 December 2020; 12:00am). Further arrangement will be announced at closer stage.  

When any of the above weather warning signals are hosted or the adverse weather condition happens during the race, the Organizer reserves the right to amend the race route or cancel the event. Please follow the official instructions on-site. NO refund is accepted. Should the participants cannot attend the postponed event, the participant may choose to transfer his / her's quota to another runner.

ON EVENT DAY

Should my team and I need to report our attendance at arrival on event day?

 

No report is required. Please make sure you have arrived to the starting zone 10 minutes before the race for preparation. Should luggage storage service is required, please arrive a little earlier for storage.

What should I bring for the event?

All participants/teams must wear the bib number on the chest for identification use. Should luggage storage is required. please use the provided luggage bad and tag for storage. No luggage bag and tag will be provided on the race day.

What is the start arrangement of the event?

 

FOODSPORT reserves all rights to divide the participants into various starting groups. The groups will start at different time slots to avoid unnecessary congestion. Will there be time limit for the races?

 

The time limit for 2km run is 40 minutes, 4km run is 60 minutes and 10km run is 120 minutes. Participants who fail to finish the race within the time will be advised to walk to the finishing point using the nearest pavement. The Organizer will provide assistance along the course. The track will be closed at 4:00pm.

How to participate in "The Funniest Outfit Award"?

 

If you wish to participate in, please register at the “The Funniest Outfit Award " at the designated venue before the race. The Organizer will announce the results and present the awards on race day. More information will be announced inside the e-race booklet published at closer stage.

Is there any specific dress code for the event?

 

No, but participants are advised to be dressed in a simple, lightweight sportswear. In addition, the teams and corporate are encouraged to dress up in team uniforms to boost the team morale.

Can we have the Finisher e-certificate if we are unable to attend the game eventually?

 

The Finisher e-certificate is a proof of the completion of the running race. We apologize that this Finisher e-certificate will not be issued to any absentee or those could not finish the race individually or in groups.

Any luggage storage available at the event venue?

 

One-off luggage deposit service will be provided on event day for participants to store their personal belongings and collect them after the race. Participants should be liable for any loss of the personal item. Participants are not advised to bring any valuable items.

Please write your number shown on the number bib on the luggage tag and attach them on the luggage before storage. The Organizer will only handle luggage with the official luggage bag. No luggage bag and tag will be provided on the event day. To avoid getting your luggage wet in the rain, participants are advised to use waterproof bags to store your belongings.

Are there changing rooms or toilets available at the event venue?

 

On event day, there are changing rooms and toilets available inside the event venue for participants to use.

Transportation arrangement

 

Crowd safety management measures and special traffic arrangements will be implemented at the Wan Po Road Pet Garden area, to facilitate all visitors and vehicles in and out of the event venue (Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre). NO public car parks will be available on event day at the event venue. Participants are advice to travel to the event venue on foot, by public transportation or the event shuttle bus.

《On Foot》

Take the MTR to Tseung Kwan O Exit A2, walk through Chi Shan Street and over the Waterfront Park Pedestrian Bridge for about 200 meters along the Tseung Kwan O South Promenade, turn left into Wan Po Road Pet Garden, and then enter the Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre's gate and follow the path. Estimating 25 - 30 minutes.

《Event Shuttle bus》

Event shuttle bus is available at LOHAS Park Station Public Transport Interchange (Lohas Park MTR station Exit A) to the event venue (Jockey Club HKFA Football Training) and TKO Spot shopping mall. Please follow the on-site instructions to queue up and board the buses. First priority are given to participants with number bibs and their relatives and friends to get on board first, to avoid any delay on race starting schedule.

Remarks: Shuttle bus spaces are very limited. FOODSPORT advise travelers should arrive 30 - 45 minutes in advanced to queue up and board the buses.

Shuttle Bus Terms & Conditions

  1. The shuttle bus will depart on time. Latecomers will not be entertained.

  2. Pick-up points may change according to traffic conditions.

  3. First priority are given to participants with number bubs and their relatives and friends to get on board first.

  4. Drop off point is only available at TKO Spot shopping mall. NO mid point drop off is available.

  5. Please stay tuned for updates on the event website and Facebook page.

  6. In the event of a dispute, FOODSPORT's decision will be final.​

Can the disabled participate?

 

“HUNGER RUN 2020” runs along footbridges, stone steps, narrow alleys and grasslands, running into the daily lives in streets and alleys and experiencing the uniqueness of different communities. FOODSPORT does not recommend wheelchair users to participate in this race. Individuals should evaluate their own physical conditions before making a decision.
