HOW TO PLAY

There is no set route or distance, participants sign up as an individual (1 person) or team race (2 - 4 persons) for the competition. Individuals and teams have to plan their own routes and find their way around the city to check in at the checkpoints or complete the missions to win scores. The score of each checkpoint varies depending on the accessibility and difficulty. The individual or team with the highest scores of each category wins. Individuals / teams finishes late will be penalized at the the rate of 5 points per a minute.

The competition will be set in Tsim Sha Tsui district. To make the competition more fun and challenging, the map will be divided into 4 zones, each zone will pre-set different "Bonus Time" announced at the start of the race. Each bonus time last for 10 minutes. Participants and teams may earn double scores simply check in at the checkpoints during bonus time!

A map with Checkpoint locations will be handed out to all participants at the start of the race (Total 25 Check Points). Some Check Points contain hidden challenges. Should teams accept those challenges, extra points will be awarded.

Remarks:

1) Race quotas are limited on a first come first served basis. FOODSPORT may stop accepting application before deadline without prior notice if the categories are full.

2) FOODSPORT reserves the final decision on the acceptance of application and the arrangement of the competition.

3) The Organizer reserves the right to divide the participants into various starting groups. The groups will start at different times to avoid unnecessary congestion. Start time will be announced later stage at the website. Please stay tuned.

4) If the event is cancelled due to bad weather or for any other reason, the enrollment fees will not be returned.

Top Salvager Award:

Champion, first runner-up and second runner-up (With the highest score) of each race category.

The Salvager Award:

A trophy will be awarded to the below teams / individuals who with the most Salvage Flag.

1. Mixed Team - One mixed team with the most Salvage Flag will receive a trophy

2. Men's / Women's Team - One Men's / Women's team with the most Salvage Flag will receive a trophy

3. Men's / Women's Individual - One Men's / Women's individual with the most Salvage Flag will receive a trophy.

* Regardless of the gender

* If more than one individual / team collected the same amount of flags, the winner will be the individual /    team that completes the race fastest.

Finisher Award:

Participants who have scored more than 20 points in the race will be award with an Finisher Award.

Most Committed 

Organization Award:

The most committed organization with the most participants will receive a trophy

E-Certificates:

Participants who have completed the race will receive an e-certificate on or before 30 June 2019.

RULES & REGULATIONS

Compete the Race with Care

  1. Because the race is in the city, please keep the pathway clear and minimize any disturbance to the nearby public users.

  2. Keep the place clean. FOODSPORT encourages participants to recycle any empty bottles and food packages.

  3. FOODSPORT encourage participants to bring their own water bottles to reduce plastic consumption. Public water supply are indicated on the map for water refill.

Discomfort or Injuries During the Competition

  1. Please pay attention to the physical condition. If you experience any discomfort, please tell your team members and do not push yourself over the limit.

  2. Never leave your team members unattended in any circumstances. If your team member is injured or exhausted, please send him / her to the nearest checkpoint / first aid depot for help.

  3. If your team member is seriously injured or cannot walk, please call our emergency hotline (printed on the map of participants), tell us your location and accompany him / her until the arrival of our first-aider.

  4. First aids are available inside the Home Base and at several checkpoints outside (all shown in the map)

  5. Participants are advised to take protective measures against UV and cold, such as applying sunscreen and wear appropriate clothing

  6. Keep drinking plenty of water to recover the loss during the run.

  7. Please take note of the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI), especially when the Health Risk Category reaches high, very high or serious. Please consult medical advice to decide whether to participate in outdoor activities.

Quit During the Competition

  1. Participants who intend to quit during the competition must report to the nearest checkpoint. We will record the information of the participant. (Individuals / teams cannot compete for any awards if any one of the members quit during the competition.)

  2. We strongly advise that participants who quit during the competition must report to us. If any missing team member(s) is found at the finish line, the team may be disqualified.

  3. If any team member is absent or withdrawn for any reason before or during the race, the team can continue to participate but cannot compete for any awards or championship. In any case, for team race if the team has less than 2 players, they cannot start or participate in the competition.

Paying Attention while Salvaging

  1. Safety comes first! Keep your eyes open, stay sharp and beware of your surrounding.

  2. Please be patient, do not push the others and follow the instructions given by the on-site officials to avoid any injury.

  3. The team should compete the race together. Don't try to be a hero!

  4. Beware of the traffics. Do not walk on the roads.

  5. Participants must follow the instructions of traffic lights and laws during the race.

  6. If any team is found violating the Traffic Ordiance, the team may be disqualified.

Details of Regulation

  1. A map with hints will be distributed to all participants and teams before the race start. Food Salvagers have to compete with the highest score by visiting various checkpoints.

  2. Participants / teams may only check in at the Checkpoints ONCE per Checkpoint.

  3. All Checkpoints will be shown on the map. The score varies depending on the accessibility and difficulty of the challenge. Participants / teams with the highest scores in each category will be the champion. If more than one team having the same score, the champion will be the team that completes the race the earlier.

  4. Do not disclose, or discuss about, anything about the map and course with competitors not yet started, except information posted in this document. This is a serious breach of fair play and will incur disqualification.

  5. Participant or teams finishing late will be penalized at the the rate of 5 points per a minute (The penalty will be counted in minutes).

  6. Each team member will be given a bib no. for identification. Participants should put on their bibs on their chest and ensure they are clearly visible to the race officials at all times without covering them with jackets. The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify those who fail to comply.

  7. During the race, the participants / team captain will be required to use a smart phone that has already downloaded the "Food Salvager -Urban Adventure Challenge" Mobile App for the use of Checkpoint check in and collect scores. 

  8. Those participants / teams who fails to bring or use a smart phone for race use will be disqualify (DQ) and will not be allow to join / start the race.

  9. If any participant has lost the number bibs during competition, he/she together with his/her team members should return to Home Base together for re-issue of number bibs. Violation of this will risk disqualification

  10. All participants / teams must compete the race on a self-sufficient basis. Any support in whatever form and from whatever source are not allowed. They must not deliberately follow other participants/teams, any violations will be disqualify (DQ) and will not be able to compete for the championship or any awards. The qualifications will be cancelled.

  11. Participants/teams must abide by the on-site traffic rules and use pedestrian or related facilities for crossing. Any violation, including crossing during red light, may be disqualified.

  12. For team races, the team should compete the race together and should not separate with other team members.

  13. For team races, all members must check in at the Checkpoints or complete missions together in order to receive points. Violation of this rule will risk points deduction or disqualification.

  14. Participants / teams may travel around the site during the race on foot or by public transports such as bus, mini bus, underground, etc.) Traveling with hired vehicle, private vehicles, electric motors or cycling bikes, skaters is prohibited. Any team violation will be disqualified.

  15. FOODSPORT reserves the right to retain, add, modify and interpret any rules and regulation of the race; if any amendments are made, the announcement by FOODSPORT on the day of the race shall be final.

  16. Participants must follow the rules of the event and obey the instructions given by the officials on race day.

  17. Participants are not allowed to move or damage the "Checkpoint" signs or other facilities. Any violations will be disqualified upon discovery. All damage and loss will be born by the participants.

  18. The captain must wait until all the players have reached the finish line before they can check in at the finish line with the on-site official to complete the race. The completion time of the race will be subject to that time.

  19. During the event, the top five leaderboead shown in the APP is for reference only. The final result is subject to the announcement by the Official at the result announcement.

  20. There are「Missions」 at some of the checkpoints. Should the participants and teams have accepted the mission, scores will be awarded upon the completion the assigned task(s). 

  21. No doubling scores during the "Bonus Time" will apply to any "Missions". Only normal scores will be awarded.

  22. The teams should complete the race together and should not separate with your team member of over 5m.

  23. Participants/teams who have successfully collected the salvager flag should keep it safe in their own hands. If there is any loss, the points will not be recognized and counted.

  24. If more than one team / individual arrive to the Checkpoint for the salvager flag at the same, teams / individual will be required to send a representative to challenge the opposite team / individual by rock, paper and scissors. The flag will be awarded to the winner.

  25. If the participant/team has a faulty or unsuccessful use of the mobile phone during the race period, the responsibility will be borne by the participant/team.

  26. Each group in the conference is a two-hour time limit. The time limit has arrived at the checkpoint to report, and the score will not be counted in the record.

Luggage Storage

  1. One time off bag drop service will be provided on event day for participants to store their personal belongings and collect them after the race.

  2. Participants should be liable for any loss of the personal item. Participants are not advised to bring any valuable items.

  3. Please write your bib number shown on the baggage tag before storage.

  4. To avoid getting your luggage wet at storage due to the rain, FOODSPORT recommend all participants to  store your belongings in a waterproof bag.

  5. No luggage tags will be provided on race day.

  6. No luggage storage service will be provided outside the below luggage storage service time

  7. Participants should store your baggage according to the opening of the luggage storage counters: 0715am - 1200pm

Start Time and Procedure

  1. Participants/teams must report at the Home Base at their arrival according to the official arrival time. During reporting, all participants / team members must be a present with their number bib on for identification use. Unless the participant / team member has reported to FOODSPORT in advanced, FOODSPORT will not accept any player / team member transfer at the site on race day. FOODSPORT reserves the rights to NOT accepting any report in if any violation is found.

  2. If any team member is absent or withdrawn for any reason before or during the competition, the team can continue to participate but cannot compete for any championship or awards. In any case, if the team has less than 2 players, the team cannot start or participate in the race.

  3. The Organizer reserves the right to divide the participants / teams into various starting groups. The groups will start at different times to avoid unnecessary congestion. Start time will be announced on the Race Pack Collection day.

  4. Participants/teams must enter the starting zone according to the official rundown. The map will be distributed to all participants / team members (1 map per participant) at their entry into the starting zone. Once entered into the starting zone with map distributed, no one may leave the area to avoid leaking information or other participants. 

  5. The Organizer will not accept and allow any participants / team who has missed their starting Time to start their race.

Finishing & Results Announcement

  1. The captain must wait until all the players have reached the finish line before they can check in at the finish line with the on-site official to complete the race, otherwise we will not be able to record the finish time.

  2. participants/teams may view their results and check in records on the "Food Salvager - Urban Adventure Challenge" Mobile App, and wait for FOODSPORT to announce the final results on winners and awards ceremony.

  3. The records shown on the Mobile Application is for reference only. The final result for the winners announced by FOODSPORT are final.

Insurance

Public Liability is covered by the Organizer; Participants are advised to purchase their own insurance if necessary.

Adverse Weather Arrangements Before the Event

  1. The event will be cancelled if the no. 3 or above typhoon signal, red or black rainstorm warning signal is in force at 00:00 on the event day (16 June 2019; 1200am).

  2. When any of the above weather warning signals are hoisted or the adverse weather condition happens during the race, the Organizer reserves the right to amend the race route or cancel the event. Please follow the official instructions on-site.

  3. All enrollment registration fees are non-refundable, all proceeds, after deducting expenses (including Food Purchasing for donation), will go to "FOODSPORT Community Sport Development", enables FOODSPORT to continue to sustain and expand our community sports development in Hong Kong.

Appeals

  1. On the race day, the winners list will be announced on site. Appeals on the winners list must be submitted within 15 minutes after result announcements by filling in the form and handing HK$100 deposit to the Information Counter located at the Home Base. The deposit will be forfeited if the appeal is unsuccessful.

  2. All appeals will be appointed to Jury for review, judgement and voting. The Jury shall consist of 3 voting members from different participants / teams and not being a member of the event organizer (FOODSPORT).  FOODSPORT shall lead the jury but has no vote.

  3. The organizer shall act according to the jury’s decisions, e.g. to reinstate a competitor disqualified by the organizer, to disqualify a competitor approved by the organizer, to void the results in a class approved by the organizer or to approve results declared invalid by the organizer.

  4. The jury is competent to rule only if all members are present. In urgent cases preliminary decisions may be taken if a majority of the jury members agree on the decision.

  5. If a jury member declares him- or herself prejudiced or if a jury member is unable to fulfill his or her task, FOODSPORT shall nominate a substitute.

  6. Arising from its ruling on a protest, the jury — in addition to instructing the organizer — may recommend that FOODSPORT excludes a person from some or all future FOODSPORT events in the case of a major violation of the rules.

  7. Decisions of the jury are final.

  8. Disputes or appeals regarding to the results / decisions of the Jury must be submitted by email to foodsport@symbol-of.com within 7 days of result announcements. Jury and the Organizer reserves the right not to entertain any disputes or appeals submitted after 7 days after the event.

  9. FOODSPORT reserves the right to retain, add, modify and interpret any race rules and regulations; if any amendments are made, the announcement by FOODSPORT on the race day shall be final.
