Calling all Dinosaur fans! Dinosaurs have arrived to Hong Kong and got lost within the concrete jungle. You have been recruited to join the quest as Dino Rangers, to search and rescue any hidden dinosaur eggs in the streets.
All burnt calories from the quest will be converted into food units for donation to FOOD-CO, St. James Settlement’s online food support service platform, for distribution to those in needed food assistance and care!
Beside the calorie donation, the proceeds of the event, after deduction of the event operating costs, will go to "FOODSPORT Community Sport" & "Food Assistance" programs, enables FOODSPORT to sustain and expand our community calorie drive programs in Hong Kong.

Food Salvager is an annual charity calorie drive virtual obstacle run / orienteering event organized by social enterprise FOODSPORT every year at different locations and themes, to connect people and the community while addressing poverty, health and hunger through sports.
The 5th annual calorie drive event “Food Salvager 2022” will be held on the 14th August 2022 at ‘Plaza Hollywood’ in Diamond Hill. The theme for this year’s event will be “Dinosaur”, where all participants will become Dino Rangers, to search and rescue as much Dinosaur eggs as they can within the set time limit to redeem special finisher gifts.

Participants can choose any of the following "Time slots" to self-start at registration:
Time Slot 1 : 0900 - 0930
Time Slot 2 : 1000 - 1030
Time Slot 3 : 1400 - 1430
Time Slot 4 : 1500 - 1530
All participants are required to return to the event venue (Plaza Hollywood) to collect the Finisher Gifts and event souvenirs at the end of the event on event day. Recollection arrangement is NOT be available.

'Food Salvager 2022 - Dino Ranger' Game Cards
For every dinosaur egg rescued by the participants will be exchanged for one dinosaur game card. The more dinosaur eggs you search and rescue, the more game cards you can get.

Why is the company called FOODSPORT?

Why the event name is called Food Salvager - Urban Adventure Challenge 2022?
The event name was chosen to deliver the true meaning and the purpose of the event, which is to address hunger and raise public awareness on food waste through sport. In addition, we would like to create an unforgettable city hunt experience for all participants, families and friends, taking this opportunity to create more synergy among the government bodies, corporate and social organizations, joint hands to celebrate and promote healthy living through sport.
Where will the proceeds from the event goes to?
The proceeds from the event, after deduction of the event operating costs and the cost of food purchasing for donation, all will go to FOODSPORT’s “Food Assistance” and "Community Sport Development" programs, enables FOODSPORT to continue to sustain and expand our meaningful work in prompting healthy living and address poverty and hunger in Hong Kong.
Our charity partner also welcomes additional public donations to support their community programs, benefit more people with needs in Hong Kong.
Why FOODSPORT raises "Calories" and not "Funds"?
We believe doing good and positive things are beyond the value of money. We are creating a new concept of charity and volunteering work by engaging the public to do sport for the good of our community. Where every drop of sweat and energy that you burnt will be converted into a nutrition meal / food for a person in need, to address hunger in Hong Kong.
How to calculate and convert calories into food?
FOODSPORT Nutrition Adviser will calculate each and every participant's calories loss according to the personal data provided at the enrollment (such as gender, date of birth and weight), and exercise intensity and duration of the event. We will gather all burnt calories and convert them the equivalent amount of calories worth of food for donation to the under-privileged groups in Hong Kong.
FOODSPORT Nutrition Adviser will select the most suitable and needed food for donations to our beneficiaries.
Where does the donated food comes from?
The donated food are sponsored by corporate sponsorship and individuals (Registration fees). FOODSPORT will be donating the the exact amount (or more) of food, equivalent to the amount of burnt calories, to our beneficiary at the post event food donation volunteer event.
When and how the raised food be delivered to the beneficiary?
FOODSPORT will be organizing a food donation volunteer event in End of August 2022, to deliver all raised food from "Food Salvager 2022 - Dino Ranger" directly to our beneficiary. If you are interested in joining the event and help us to deliver the food, you are very welcome to register at our website. Please stay tuned for more information of the event and registration.
How do I know if I am successfully enrolled?
A confirmation email will be send to your registered email address upon your completion of the online registration for verification.
What should I do if I have not receive any confirmation email from the organizer?
The email may be marked as spam, please check your spam or junk mail box. Please contact FOODSPORT directly if you cannot find the email.
Can I change the category or team members after my registration?
All entry fee and additional donations are not refundable. No return, cancellation or transfer for all enrollments, including late and duplicate enrollments.
Are the registration fees tax-deductible?
This is not a fund raising event, therefore, all registration fees is NOT tax-deductible. The proceeds of the event, after deduction of the event operating costs and the cost of food purchasing for donation, will goes to FOODSPORT's "Food Assistance" and "Community Sport Development" programmes, enables FOODSPORT to continue to sustain and expand our community sports development in Hong Kong.
Why do I need to provide my weight and other personal information at registration?
FOODSPORT will calculate the calories burnt for conversion into food units for donation based on your personal data (weight, gender, age), exercise intensity and duration.
In compliance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, FOODSPORT is committed to safeguard web users' personal information in respect of its collection, use, retention, security, transfer and access. Personal data should be collected by lawful and fair means and can only be used for lawful purposes directly related to the charity functions and other activities of FOODSPORT. All reasonably practicable steps shall be taken to ensure that personal data collected and retained are accurate and protected against unauthorized or accidental access, processing, erasure or other use. No personal data shall be disclosed to other organizations or individuals without prior consent of the web users. Only authorized staff of FOODSPORT, who are well trained in proper handling of personal information, are permitted to access such information.

Should the event is forced to cancel, will the registration fees be refunded?
The Organizer reserves the right to postpone, cancel or cut short the event if any of the following situation occurs:
a) Adverse weather conditions
b) All Hong Kong SAR government policies caused by the COVID-19
c) Force majeure i.e. due to occurrence of incidents that are beyond the control of the organizer and which renders it
impossible, unsafe or impractical to hold the event. A force majeure event shall include, but is not limited to, act of God, war, hostilities, invasion, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, riot, commotion, strikes, go-slows, lock outs or
disorder, outbreak of disease, acts or threats of terrorism. Any temporary changes or cancellations related to the
competition/event will be subject to the announcement on the event website. The Organizer reserves the right to
make temporary changes or cancellations to related events.

Do I have to start / participant the event on the 14th August 2022?
Yes you do! All participants MUST participate and start the event at Star Atrium, Plaza Hollywood according to your selected 'Starting Time Slot' on the 14th August, and complete the event within 3 hours.
What should I bring for the event?
Participants are required to use a smartphone with the “FOODSPORT Urban Adventure” mobile App installed prior to the event to start the event.
Spare battery for your smart phone.
Bring your own water bottle for drink to reduce plastic consumption.
Bring some cash and Octopus.
Please take precautions about the weather conditions on race day, such as using sunscreen or wearing suitable clothing.
According to the latest "Vaccine Pass" arrangement issued by the Hong Kong government, all participants who enters listed premises will be required to use the “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile application and comply with the relevant requirements under the “vaccine pass”.
When will the FOODSPORT Urban Adventure Mobile Application be available to download?
The ‘FOODSPORT Urban Adventure' Mobile App will be available for download by early August. Participants will be required to download in in advance and track your scores and redeem your finisher gift within the event period. The Organizer will keep all participants posted for more updates through email in August.
To avoid system errors and fair play during the event, ONLY ONE participant can log in and use the APP at a time. Multiply logins may interfere the system operation.
How to start and end the event?
Participants must start the event at the starting point (Star Atrium, 1/F Plaza Hollywood) and scan the “Starting QR Code” to activate the game to play and start on the 14th August 2022.
The event time limit will be set for 3 hours; the 'FOODSPORT Urban adventure; Mobile Application will cut off and end the event automatically when time is up. Any collected points / dinosaur eggs will not be counted / recorded beyond the time limit. Participants MUST return to the starting point to redeem your Finisher Gift (Dino Ranger Game Card) and collect your race souvenir.
Is there any specific dress code for the event?
No, but participants are advised to be dressed in a simple, lightweight sportswear.
When will the map be distributed to the participants / teams?
When the participants has scanned the 'Starting QR Code' to activate the the event on the 'FOODSPORT Urban Adventure' APP, the map will be displayed on the phone screen.
How do rescue and collect the Dinosaur eggs when arriving to the Checkpoint?
Participants may rescue and collect the Dinosaur eggs by using the 'FOODSPORT Urban Adventure' APP's built-in 'GPS Punch-In' feature at the Checkpoint. If the Punch-in is successful, the APP will automatically send a message to confirm the rescue to the participant's phone via the mobile app.
Any luggage storage available at the event venue?
NO luggage storage service will be provided on event day. Participants may consider to use the lockers available at the near by facilities.
Do I need to keep my face masks on during the event?
Participants should be aware of social distancing restrictions. Participants are advised to keep face masks on to keep social distance during the event, to protect yourself and the others.
Could I/we travel around in any transportation during the race?
Participants / teams may travel around the area in any forms of transpiration and tools to different Checkpoints to collect Dinosaur eggs or complete the challenges. Participants must pay attention to road condition and follow the instructions of traffic lights and laws during the event.
How and when can I redeem the Finisher Gift(s)?
Participants must start the event at the starting point (Star Atrium, 1/F Plaza Hollywood) and complete the event on the 14th August 2022 within 3 hours. Participants MUST return to the starting point to redeem your Finisher Gift (Dino Ranger Game Card) at end of the event on the same day. If the gift is not collected on the day of the event, it will not be re-issued.
ONE (1) Dino Ranger Game Card will be reward per every Dinosaur eggs rescued. The most eggs rescued to more cards be rewarded.
